Massage the imagination & paint pictures in your head.

Reading fiction.
Choosing fiction is a wrestle of the mind.
Fiction doesn’t solve any of life’s problems – other than an escape from boredom.
It will not give you a heads up on managing your life.
Fiction will not solve any of your problems and it will not fix your bank balance.
Fiction will provide an evolving image,  a unique story as well as interesting characters.
The story will send your mind on an imaginative journey, pictures, created in your head and coloured by your feelings evoked by the words on the pages.
Escapism and entertainment are the aims.
Hoping to realise that momentary freedom from the stresses and pressures of life, relationships, work, reality.
Reality is important but do we need to be engaged and totally immersed in it 24/7?
All these noxious stimuli can be so destructive and all consuming we all need respite.

A great work of fiction allows our minds to meander,  taking our souls on a journey of unimportant stuff! Unimportant but therapeutic wanderings non the less.
However fiction can be instructive, inspirational and educational. It can be exciting and also calming.

Having written a few books now, if I expand on Legally Lucky, my first novel : it was written with a view to entertain and inspire the reader to live their lives in the moment, balance what was important and be less materialistic.
It focuses on the joys of life and prioritising happiness over money.
The reviews are few but it was well received and although a naive book in some ways, a great reminder to engaging with life.

Fiction is to me a way of getting a thrill without climbing a cliff face or standing on the edge of a precipice. It should increase the readers heart rate without endangering the readers life.

With this, I invite you to read and enjoy the novels on my Amazon page.

They are works of fiction and will entertain.
They are not heavy going and will probably not take too many hours to read.  One thing I guarantee, they will paint those pictures in your head and massage your imagination.

Halloween in a few days

Halloween
Halloween is nearly here again. The time of year where we celebrate ghosts, spectres, witches and the dead.  All Hallows Eve, pagan rituals that remain with us and are capitalised on, creating an industry out of it.
Hoping to generate some ghostly imagination?
Well why not read Phantasms in the Infirmary Vol I and Vol II plus The Ultimate Phantasms in the Infirmary...
All occupied by ghostly hospital horror aplenty,  a virtual compendium of phantoms and spooks.

Try the link at the top of the page and click on the link.

Oh. . . . I nearly forgot , Vol I is in Spanish too! !

Happy Halloween

Writing books - Challenging

Writing books is an ongoing hobby for me.
The story teller within me has loads to impart.
Ideas flow and I try to capture these thought bubbles into words.
The next step is to arrange the random plethora of words and ideas into a rational and flowing stream.
Once this is done, review the flow and see if it makes sense, is it engaging? Is the story working as well as it did in my head?
Next steps are getting the editing done, the cover work, the publishing and all the rest of the stuff that goes with it.
In-between all this, there are several interruptions to the work flow... the phone, work, life!!!

My aim is to one day write a book in a few days. Something contemporary in a genre that will lead to more sales but more importantly, more readers getting familiar with my work.
I think I have written 4 pieces that are contemporary and innovative. Four books that will challenge the readers imagination and novels that will stand out.

Having written and published 4 books (Legally Lucky, Mental Dental, Phobic Wars and Phantasms in the Infirmary .. all available on Amazon by the way..) the challenge remains marketing them.
As a self published author, the demands on my time are many.
I cannot seem to spare the time to go on book signings, tours and more time on social media promoting them!

Here is the link to them.... RPG Books
I hoped that the books would be discovered and enjoyed by many more people than what the results are.
Disappointing as it can be, its a labour of love and not a business.
I remain resolute that they will be seen, read, enjoyed and shared among many people.
One aspires to getting a book into film... and from these, there are possibilities that could one day become film... especially Mental Dental (Murder by Proxy). This was an exhilarating ride to write it and a blooming good read
In the meantime, I continue to writ more stories, have more ideas and even more interruptions!!!
Such is life eh!

Enjoy your day and if you need a break from the mundane or a challenge to your day, download a copy of one of my novels and read on.

When you do, please share your reviews and thanks in anticipation.

All the best

Adrenaline rush... Nice horror

Boo...
'Phantasms in the Infirmary' is a classic scary story collection.
It encompasses the transformation from fear to fun.
It's entertainment not fact.
It allows the reader some escapism from reality,  the thrill of being scared.
The thrill of feeling alive, emotions and a raised pulse with the added security of being safe.  Able to control the stimulus with the turn of a page or flick of a switch.
These are stories that make you jump and may make you feel edgy but without blood and gore.
It's nice horror, fiction with a twist... Adrenaline overdrive!
Ideal for any age, including teenage readers,  boys and girls alike.

These have an origin to the 'campfire' like sharing of stories by hospital staff all over the world.
A warm cup of coffee held firmly during a night shift huddle.  An element of competition to see who could tell the scariest tale.

Give it a spin,  read,  share and make some noise for Phantasms in the Infirmary.

Fantastic Phantasms

Spectral

Phantasms in the Infirmary....
Have you ever questioned what you are seeing?
Are you daydreaming or nocturnal dreaming?
Is the image in your minds eye?
Does it make this vision less real or valid?
This is a book centred on fact.. Experiences in many hospital wards and departments over many years by colleagues.
These are expanded / shared stories addressing some of the many unexplained and unexpected encounters with Angels or demons in healthcare settings .
Imagination or visitations?

The book is there for reading.... Don't have nightmares.

Overwhelming choice

There is an overwhelming choice of books available in paperback or Kindle.
How do we differentiate them from others?
Why would you choose specific ones and not others?
What makes a book successful?
How do we get them read?  Is it possible a masterpiece could remain hidden?
Is it the heavy support of the publishing machine and it's hunt for return on investment?

There are loads of possibilities out there that can cause a book to go viral... Despite it's quality? It remains a mystery..

It is such an impossible answer...  If one says read my book...  Does it really cause a negative and put readers off?

My reasons for writing are to share the stories with others.
I love the fact I have an imagination, I am creative and daring enough to put my neck on the line and brave enough to take a plunge...

I'm Proud of the books I've written and hopefully others will appreciate the reason and beauty of them.

Any ideas for increasing readership would be appreciated though..

Don't forget about My Lulu Author page

I realise I have not put any emphasis on my Lulu Author page since starting this blog.
Lulu allowed me to publish for free however it's then up to me, the author,  to market my wares...
Phobic wars and Mental Dental (MBP) were published via Lulu.

Here is the link Authors spotlight
I don't have my ebooks available on this site,  just 2 of my paperback books.
I was conversing with my wife this evening about ebooks and paperbacks.
She prefers a good old fashioned paper based read...  The smell,  feel, reflection and real reading experience.

I like paperbacks,  even though the profits are better on electronic versions but it's not all about the money!!

What ever you choose,  enjoy reading and immersing yourself in a world of imagination,  a chance to release yourself into one of my stories and be thrilled
